JD's Old Fashioned Frozen Custard, founded in 1997 by Cindy and Dan Gress, has become a cherished community staple, known for its delicious custard and the strong local ties it has fostered over the years. Many of us have fond memories of running into neighbors while waiting in line for a scoop or two of custard, and we hope you’ll continue this tradition with your family for years to come.

 

In November 2022, we had the incredible opportunity to purchase the business after much persistence from my husband, Brent. We were thrilled when Cindy and Dan agreed we were a good fit to carry on the legacy of JD's. A little about our family: we’ve lived in the Northmont community since 1990 and have been married since 1988. Our four kids grew up here and continue to live in the area, and we are blessed with a growing number of grandchildren, continue to enjoy this wonderful community.

 

Though we didn’t meet in the airline industry, both of us worked for a major airline for a combined 71 years—36 and 35 years, respectively. Our first venture into business was the purchase of Melody Pool and Swim Club, another community favorite. Later, we had the opportunity to buy Bubble Brush Car Wash, which was also started by the Gress family. Owning these businesses gives us a chance to contribute to the community and the wonderful people who work with us.

 

As we step into this new season with JD's, we are excited to continue updating and improving the location each year. We also have some exciting plans in mind for potential expansion. Most importantly, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing team of employees who have returned and helped make this transition smooth. We can’t wait to meet both old friends and new customers who have made JD’s the special place it is today. We are truly honored to continue the incredible legacy Cindy and Dan started and look forward to seeing everyone in 2025 and beyond.
